Assignments and Transfer
Each employee of the Board of Education shall be assigned to a specific position at the direction of the superintendent of schools and may be transferred to any other position as the superintendent may direct. This includes extra-curricular activities.
Transfers may be made by the superintendent for any purpose which, in the judgement of the superintendent, is for the welfare of the school.
("Teachers shall not be assigned outside the scope of their teaching certificates.") (1982)
Hiring Procedure
When a vacancy occurs in the teaching staff, a notice of this vacancy should be sent to the placement bureaus in order to interest the best possible candidates in the vacancy. The teacher, being the most important element in the education process, should be selected with the greatest of care.
Applicants should secure an application form from the school office and complete same. This should be returned to the office with a written letter of application and a set of credentials. The applicant will then be called for a personal interview. Following the interview with the superintendent a similar interview will be asked of the applicant with the building principal. The principal will form a committee, when time allows, to interview the applicants. Upon the recommendations of the committee and the principal(s) the superintendent will make a recommendation to the board. The principal and superintendent will confer and make a recommendation to the board.
