Title I District Parent Involvement Policy
The Mobridge-Pollock School District #62-6 shall establish a School District Parent Advisory Committee which shall meet at least two times each year to plan, review, and improve Title I Programs. Title I, Part A Programs are established to Improve the Academic Achievement of the Disadvantaged. The Parent Advisory Committee and the Mobridge-Pollock School District will work within regulations of NCLB, Subpart I-Basic Program Requirements, Section 1118 which contains the regulations for Parental Involvement.
2. Parents who volunteer to serve on each school advisory committees along with the volunteers who serve on the School Wide Parent Advisory will help in planning and implementing effective parental involvement activities that focus on student achievement and school performance.
3. The Mobridge-Pollock School District will help in engaging parent volunteer groups and parent advisory committees in professional development opportunities. The Mobridge-Pollock School District will work with the South Dakota Parent Information Resource Center in developing continuing professional development.
a. Parents will be informed of all parent involvement activities through email, schools website, school reach, local newspaper and letters home.
6. Parents will all be notified of Title I information/policies/plans/compacts that have been discussed or changed throughout the school year that reflects changes in all Title I Programs.
STUDENTS
ENROLLMENT, TRANSPORTATION, SCHOOL OF ORIGIN, AND THE ELIMINATION OF BARRIERS FOR CHILDREN OR YOUTH EXPERIENCING HOMELESSNESS INCLUDING UNACCOMPANIED YOUTH
The Mobridge-Pollock School District policy is to:
Ensure the immediate enrollment of children or youth experiencing homelessness until all enrollment records may be secured, i.e. academic records, medical records, proof of residency, or other documentation.
Keep a child or youth experiencing homelessness in the school of origin, except when doing so is contrary to the wishes of the child’s or youth’s parent or guardian.
Ensure the elimination of stigmatization or segregated services and the elimination of other identified barriers for homeless children and youth.
Provide children or youth experiencing homelessness with services comparable to services offered to other students in the school including the following:
a. Transportation services.
b. Educational services for which the child or youth meets the eligibility criteria, such as services provided under Title I of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 or similar State or local programs, educational programs for children with disabilities, and educational programs for students with limited English proficiency.
c. Programs in vocational and technical education.
d. Programs for gifted and talented students.
e. School nutrition programs.

SCHOOL MANAGEMENT
BUILDINGS AND GROUNDS MAINTENANCE
The board believes that keeping school buildings and grounds safe is part of its responsibility to provide students, staff and community members with a healthy learning and working environment.
The board strives to provide schools that are safe from hazards, sanitary, properly equipped, lighted and ventilated and esthetically suited to promoting the goals of the schools. The superintendent will have direct supervision of the care of school property. The superintendent will be responsible to the board for its adequate maintenance.
Each school principal will have responsibility for the school facility and grounds under his or her charge. Principals will carry on a continuous inspection of all buildings, equipment, playgrounds, outside walkways and grounds to discover conditions that may be dangerous to the safety of students, staff and community members. The principal will supervise the custodial staff of the school in maintaining an adequate program of school care and maintenance.
District employees are encouraged to report promptly to the principal of the school any defects to the building or equipment that could prove injurious to students, staff or other persons.
